Undaunted Sentinels

People, Places and Travels:

Fine art displays color and light to ignite the imagination. Paintings act as a remembrance, not simply a memento or keepsake, to evoke experiences on many levels. Collectors are driven by the pure enjoyment of living with works found inspiring and stimulating. Owning and displaying unique paintings bring these honorable recollections to life. Set the tone of a shared space with paintings that bring to mind characters, settings and experiences collected over lifetimes through both their composition and exhibition. Well executed fine art serves as an archive ensuring that these memories last to be passed down through generations.

Patron Syndicate Model:

Inspiration:

Although it wasn’t called that at the time. I was inspired to try this concept by an artist, friend and mentor of mine a number of years ago. The idea was to commission paintings on a theme to a group of collectors who would have a choice upon the completed works providing them with a number of options.

For the project, I could not have work in a gallery. My friend recommended that I have a number of collectors, and the collection itself needed a theme. It followed that all the paintings be the same size, to be finished and ready within 6 months to a year, delivered unframed.

Theme:

The patrons were offered the theme of "Small Towns and Cities of AZ" sized to 16 x 20 at a very reasonable price.

Our family has always sought out-of-the-way, serene places. The great outdoors in Arizona is a very visual place. While on the way off the beaten path it seems you always run into small towns. They become great references. This worked well for the project.

Pledge:

The financial model presented to the syndicate was to pay half at the start and the rest on delivery.

I started to call my collectors and people I knew might be interested and sold seven (7) positions. My patrons found interest in the project based on the experience of my past work, testimonials, and the fact that I'm an honorable person.

Fulfillment:

The paintings were posted, privately, to each buyer who were offered to select their top three (3) choices. The seven (7) buyers could tell each other's selections and were able to choose from the ten (10) paintings I had painted.

So no buyer be left with think they had got the runt of the litter. As it turned out, one buyer purchased the three (3) extra paintings I had composed. At this time I am determining whether it makes sense to put together another theme and gather another syndicate. If you have interest, please contact John.
